Since I’ve been spending this past week traipsing around Tokyo, Japan, I thought that I would use my Photo Friday post this week to highlight one of my favorite sites in Japan: Kinkaku-ji.
Also known as the Golden Pavilion, this temple site is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Kyoto. A quick look is all that it takes to understand why. The golden color shine brightly off of Kinkaku-ji, reflecting a fantastic glow on the pond in front. Covered nearly head-to-toe in gold leaf, this temple is highly photogenic.
Located to the north of the city center, make sure to get to Kinkaku-ji early if you want to avoid to hordes of tourists, who are especially prevalent during the summer months.
When you get there, make sure that you put down your camera and spend a few minutes just looking at the temple, it really is an awesome site to behold, and one of the most majestic things you’re likely to see in your travels.
