Back in 2006, I went to Europe on my first backpacking trip. My wife and I spent 6.5 weeks touring through the continent at what can only be described as a blistering pace. However, we did slow things down a bit to visit some family friends in Switzerland.
The highlight of our time in Switzerland was when we visited the Alpen Tower near the town of Meiringen. While not nearly as famous as some other gondola systems in the area, the view from the peak of the Alpen Tower simply breathtaking. After our day there, we went to our friend’s cabin and spent the night high in the Swiss Alps.
The next morning, as we were leaving for our drive to Bern, we noticed the insanely beautiful views all around us. Before leaving, I took this picture from the driver’s seat of the car we were in.
Despite taking the photo over 7 years ago, it still remains one of my favorites.
